About Me
Past: My name is Jamyang, butmy friends call me “BIG HEAD”, as my head is physically bigger thanmost of theirs. I was born in a small village with a population of 150named ‘Phelho’, which is close to Labrang monastery, one of the biggestmonasteries in Tibet. At the age of nine I was admitted to it. At thattime I had no idea of what ‘being a monk’ meant. In fact I wassatisfied, as I had better food to eat. The only thing that worried mewas memorizing old texts and getting punished when I didn’t or couldn’tdo it. For many reasons during my childhood, I never got theopportunity to study or educate myself. Therefore, in 2002 I came toIndia as a refugee without any permission from, or discussion with myfamily in order to educate myself as well as possible. I was a studentat the Tibetan Transit School for four years. In the middle of 2006, mytime for learning at the T.T.S came to an end, but I wanted to continuemy studies. However I had no relatives to depend on in this foreigncountry. But there is a saying in English: where there is a will, thereis a way. As soon as I left T.T.S, I was able to take an exam and enrolat this school. (ES-Tibet). Present: Now I am here, studying as if I were to live forever, no to live as if I were to dietomorrow. I really don’t know how these last two years have gone by,for I have been lost in this small garden of wisdom. From time to timewhen I go out of school to do something, I feel that I look differentfrom the local natives. I am the special person with a big ‘R’ on myforehead - I am a refugee and I don’t belong to this country. It alwaysmakes me feel as if I am in an ocean of sorrow. It always makes me feelthat I cry without tears. It makes me feel homesick for my nativeTibet. I wish………. Standing on the roof of my school I see a bird flying toward Kelasha I wish I were that bird I would fly to my mother’s lap I have not seen her for a long time She is the only one in my life Standing on the roof of my school I see the sun rising in the east I wish I were the bright sun I want to give warmth to my native land, The coldest place in the world It is in need of sunshine Standing on the roof of my school I see an Indian walking in the road with a peaceful smile I wish he were a Tibetan living in Tibet, Who is getting an ocean of suffering From the brutal Chinese rule He would be standing in need of help from all of you. Future: Whatdate will be my ideal day? It is going to be the day when I meet mypoor dear mother at the end of 2009, when I go back to Tibet after myschooling here. I have not seen her since I came to India in 2002. Shewill be 80 years old in February, 2010. As is the custom in Tibet, there will be a big party named ‘arrival at 80 years’ to celebrate whenthe parents reach the age of 80. My mother wants me to share that daywith her. I pray that she will be in sound health as long as she canbe. I will show her a ‘basketful’ of education as a gift which I willcarry on my back from India. I am 90% sure that it will make her feelshe is the happiest mother in this !world Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Please try again. 0 CommentsLoading...
