About Me

I have been involved with the oil industry since 1975, starting as a commercial diver in the North Sea.

Attended first oil pollution incident in 1976 Tanker Elaine V involving 1,000 tonnes on the East coast of England.

Became head of response for inland spills within the UK for British Petroleum E & P in 1980 for 10 years responding to numerous well, storage tank and pipeline spills throughout the UK.

Joined OSSC later to become OSRL in 1991 a worldwide Tier 3 response company, responded to the following major tanker incidents:

Katina P 10,000 tonnes Mozambique,

Braer 84,000 tonnesScotland,

Sea Empress 74,000 tonnes Wales

as well as various Tier 1 and 2 incidents from refineries, vessels, rigs, mono buoys and road accidents.


Became training officer carrying out courses worldwide.


Joined Briggs Marine Environmental in 1997 as Training Officer and Operations Supervisor.


Joined Alpina Briggs in 2000 to setup the 9 original response centres throughout Brazil for Petrobras. This has now become 54 bases mainly for the downstream company Transpetro.


Have also delivered Familiarisation,Operator, Technician, Supervisor, Management, On Scene Commander, Inland spills and BeachMaster training courses in oil spill response at all IMO and MCA levels for many of the worlds major oil companies as well as shipping companies and universities in various locations including the Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Ecuador, France, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Tunisia, UAE, UK, USA.
